The National Youth Service Corp (NYSC )scheme was an
initiative of the Yakubu Gowon military regime in 1973 after the Nigerian Civil
War. It was put in place for the reconstruction, reconciliation and rebuilding
of our dear country Nigeria. See list below
While many
Nigerians have called on successive governments to scrap the scheme as they say
it has outlived its usefulness, many others have asked that the scheme should
be retained.
Apart from the uniform salary of N19,800 paid to youth corp
members nationwide, The salary which is popularly known as “allawee”, is pay
throughout the exercise of one year. Some
state governments where the NYSC members are posted also give them some
allowances.
Here is a lists of
allowances of NYSC members across the federation.
1. Akwa Ibom State Pays N10,000
2. Lagos state Pays N15,000 and some times N10,000 to corpers in ministry and N5000 to those
in LGA.
3.Sokoto State pays N4,000 and N9,000 to those
in state hospital

6.Osun State Pays N5,000

28. Ondo State: For Medical Corpers ranges from 75,000 to 90,000
29. Ebonyi State: For Medical Corp Members Was 130,000 Before Reduced To 15,000
30. Lagos State Pays Medical Corp Members, 20,000
31. Oyo State Pays Corp Members 45,000
32. Anambra State Pays 5,700
33. Adamawa state pays 10,000
