Home   »   Latest News   »   Buhari seeks Senate’s approval for $200 million loan for Lagos President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, asked for special approval of the Senate for US$200million (N39.8 billion) loan for Lagos State. The President, through a letter entitled: “Request for Special Approval of Lagos State Development Policy Operation Under the Federal Government External Borrowing Rolling Plan (2015-2017),” requested for the Senate’s approval for a development policy operation loan of US$200 million to Lagos State from the World Bank Buhari added in the letter that, “You may wish to know that the World Bank approved a Development Policy Operation for a total sum of US$600 million to the Lagos State government in 2010 to be implemented in three tranches of US$200 million per annum.” The first tranche, he said, was approved by the National Assembly in the 2010-2012 Federal Government external borrowing plan and the second tranche w

Player Dies While Training at Sport Centre Yaba Lagos

The event, where Osinbajo represented President Muhammadu Buhari, was part of the activities marking Guinea’s 57th Independence anniversary taking place on Oct. 2. The Vice President commended the vision of the Guinean President, Prof. Alpha Conde, noting that the inauguration of the power plant was a “monumental accomplishment” in a short time.  “It shows what can be done with commitment and vision,” he added. BVN: 32m accounts yet to enrol, says CBN

                                 Godwin Emefiele, CBN Governor The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said that 32 million active bank accounts have yet to be enrolled on the Biometric Verification Number (BVN) by September. In a statement in Abuja on Friday, r Mu’azu Ibrahim, CBN Director, Corporate Communications, said CBN was concerned by the number of account owners yet to enroll, considering that the exercise would end by Oct. 31. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that CBN in collaboration with all banks in Nigeria on Feb. 14, 2014, launched the BVN, which is a centralised biometric identification system for the banking industry. It aims at addressing issues of identity theft and fraud and will help to discover blacklisted customers, reduce queues in banking halls and standardise efficiency of banking operations.
